Ice Out Of Courts Campaign - Philly Community Urges City Investigation

BY BECCA HAYDU ON DECEMBER 21, 2023

On December 4. Juntos and the ICE Out of Courts Coalition hosted a critical press conference at the Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice in South Philadelphia.

The focus? A disturbing uptick in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests targeting over a dozen immigrant community members with pending criminal charges.

This trend, observed over the past year, raises serious concerns about due process, public safety, and Philadelphia’s identity as a Welcoming City. Organizers, advocates, and legal experts united to denounce these arrests and their adverse effects on vulnerable individuals and families. The collective call demanded a city investigation into how ICE obtains courthouse information, a commitment from authorities to not cooperate with ICE, and an immediate cessation of further arrests.

Join the community's call to action by staying informed, signing the online petition, and supporting the fight for due process and justice.
